Ramen Noodles - God's gift...

Ok, one of God's gift...

By Damascus, it's as common to find in the "giveaway" box called a "Hiker's Box" as Macaroni and Cheese. After 450 miles most hikers have eaten tons of it and can't stomach any more, despite how many variations of it they have had.

But Ramen, remains a staple food for hikers. The block of noodles is good for around 400 calories, but contains a high amount of sodium, and not much else healthwise of any benefit. But it's lightweight, easy to fix, versatile with a little creativity and you can often get them free or around 6 blocks for a buck.

I'll have the Oriental flavor, please...

I love Oriental, too! My most favorite is Picante Chicken and mixed in with that a pouch of crab meat (or chunks of fake crab whichever). Yum Yum!! Very hot and spicy and delicious. When you get home, give it a try and slice up some celery in there and some matchstick carrots before you add the noodles so they cook some.

Keep up the good work, Diggo. I love reading your blog and seeing all the pictures. I used to have family in the mountains overlooking Asheville. It's really beautiful up there. I could NOT do what you're doing myself but I'm envious of your adventure. I'm deathly afraid of snakes and just reading about those spider webs is enough for me!

You're a brave hobbit, Mr. McDiggity!

Hugs,
Diki
